Monkeys and Rocky Paths

Amber, Amanda and I went to the beach yesterday. We decided to try a new beach. Explore more of the island that is our home. This beach is a lot closer to our apartment. You can walk to it. It takes a stroll down the big hill past campus. A stop over at the Esso station to get a snack. And then a treacherous walk down a rocky white path that has been created temporarily while construction takes place next door.

The beach itself is different from Accra or what you might imagine a beach in Barbados to look like. It contains more rocks, and trees grow closer to the tide marks. Yesterday there was less sun as well so all in all it wasn't what we were expecting and without sun we were getting kind of cold so we didn't stay too long.

On the way back up we got a pleasant surprise. Monkeys! There are monkeys on the island but you don't see them too often. However, this day we saw several including an adorable baby monkey that climbed on the fence right next to where we stood and consequently got his picture taken. All in all a good exploration day. Learned more about where we live, what we like, and where to find monkeys!

Francine and Lauren hoped for months to see a monkey and to take a picture of one and you did it so soon.
